Bharatiya Shiksha
-
- Bharatiya Shiksha must ensure that no promising young Indian having faith in Bharat and her culture is deprived of modern education, equipments and facilities merely tor want of funds.
- Bharatiya Shiksha must be more formative and cannot have for its end mere acquisition of knowledge. Its legitimate sphere is to develop the student’s personality, his natural talents and also to shape them so as to absorb and express the permanent values of Bharatiya Vidya and thus lead him to attain highest self-fulfilment of which he is capable.
- Bharatiya Shiksha must involve at some stage or other intensive study of Sanskrit, Sanskritik languages and their literatures without excluding the study of other languages and literatures, ancient and modern.
The technique of Bharatiya Shiksha must involve:
- The adoption by the teacher of the Guru attitude which consists in taking a personal interest in the student, inspiring and encouraging him to achieve distinction in his studies, entering into his life with a view to forming ideals, removing psychological obstacles and creating in him a spirit of consecration and the adoption by the student of the Shiksha attitude by the development of
(i) respect for teacher
(ii) a spirit of enquiry
(iii) a spirit of service towards the teacher, the institution, Bharat and Bharatiya Vidya
Bhavan’s Faith
Let me once more set forth the Bhavan’s faith for the benefit of new students and members, for it is necessary that they should understand it clearly and imbibe its spirit.
The Bhavan stands for the reintegration of Indian culture. In a world falling to pieces under the impact of an amoral technological avalanche, it tries to hold fast to fundamental values for which our culture stands – RITA, SATYA, YAGNA and TAPAS.
FAITH in God who informs the Cosmic Order; TRUTH which is accord between mind, word and deed; DEDICATION which offers all movements of life as an offering to God;
SUBLIMATION which purifies the body and mind and transmutes instincts, passions and emotions into things of beauty
This, regardless of forms and doctrines, is Dharma, the threefold aspects of which are SATYAM, SHIVAM, SUNDARAM – Truth, Love and Beauty.
For these values our forefathers lived and died. So did Sri Ramkrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Dayananda, Swami Vivekananda, Gandhiji and Sri Aurobindo among the moderns
These values are embedded in our national outlook. We command the respect of the world because of them.
We can look forward to the future with confidence only because they have the vitality which gives the power to vindicate their validity even in this fear-and-avarice-ridden age of ours.
We, the Bhavan’s family, whether it is the smaller one or the larger one must make every effort in restoring an awareness of these values in personal and collective life.
Aim Of The Institution
The school aims at making its students attain self-fulfilment in their personal lives and become useful members of the community to which they belong and thereby become useful citizens of our motherland India. To achieve this the students are encouraged to grow morally, intellectually, physically and socially by forming in the habits of basic virtue like honesty, dedication, hard work, excellence in both academic and nonacademic activities, habits of health care, concern for others and by cultivation of cultural and aesthetic values which form the basis of Bharatiya Shiksha.
