The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The day began with “Prabhat Pheri” which was led by the school pipe band, followed by students who hummed patriotic songs as they walked through the blocks of Salt Lake, reawakening the spirit of patriotism among the residents. The “Prabhat Pheri” was joined by the Director, Principal, Vice Principal, Head Mistress, Asst. Head Mistress teachers and parents. The tri-color was hoisted with reverence on the school campus. It was followed by a brief cultural programme.
International Tiger Day is observed annually on July 29th to bring attention to the drastic decline in tiger population. This day was celebrated at BGKV. Students were shown documentaries on the wild cats and they made paintings to decorate the school board.

On 01.07.2023 the ‘VAN Mahotsav 2023’ program was held at Uttam Mancha. It was conducted by Vinisha in association with National High School and Bhavan’s Gangabuax Kanoria Vidyamandir. The students of the primary wing of BGKV spoke about alternatives instead of using plastic in daily life.
26th June-2023 Our students took part in an awareness rally on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This was organised by the Commissionerate of Police, Bidhannagar

19th June 2023: The National Reading day commemorates the death anniversary of P.N. Panicker, widely recognised as the ‘Father of the Library Movement’ in the state of K. Students observed the day by reading from newspapers and other books to develop the habit of reading.
13th April 2023: To instill awareness and love for Mother Earth, BGKV (Secondary Wing) celebrated World Forestry and Wildlife Day. The students took a pledge to make the world plastic free
7th March 2023: On the 8th of March, BGKV Kolkata celebrated International Women’s Day in Google Meet. The students spoke about how society perceived women in the past and how progressive society is becoming gradually.
26th January 2023: BGKV observed Republic Day with the hoisting of the National Tricolour and singing the National Anthem. This was followed by a brief cultural programme.
18th January 2023: Students of classes VIII and IX participated in a celebration of National Youth Day organized by Yogodyan Math, Kolkata
22nd December 2022: The Annual Sports Meet was held on 22nd December in the school ground. Ms.Susmita Singha Roy, Olympian, and Ms. Swapana Barman, Arjun Awardee, were present as the Guests of Honour, along with the Director, G.V. Subramanian, Deputy Director, Principal, Vice Principal, Head Mistress and Asst. Head Mistress of the institution to encourage the students.
10th December 2022: The Annual Day Celebration (Deedhiti), along with the Prize Distribution Cerermony was held at the Science City Auditorium, Kolkata. Dr. ArunBandopadhyay, Director, ‘CSIR- Indian Institute of Chemical Biology’, was the Chief Guest. The Principal, Mr. Arun Kumar Dasgupta presented the Annual School Report 2022 and the School Magazine, Ripples, was also released. The Cultural Programme, ‘Glimpses of Bengal’, showcased the rich cultural heritage of Bengal.
14th November 2022: Children’s Day was celebrated in the school. Ice creams were distributed among the students.
31st October 2022: The school observed National Unity Day on 31st October 2022 to mark the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Our students took pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
5th September 2022: Teachers’ Day was celebrated in the school. The students of the senior section put up a colourful cultural programme on the occasion.
29th August 2022: BGKV in collaboration with Sports Authority of India, organised the National Sports Day as a part of the Fit India Initiative.The Squash Champion Mr.Ramit Tandon addressed the students.
19th August 2022: Our school organised a photography display on the occasion of International Photography Day 2022.
15th August 2022: The 76TH INDEPENDENCE DAY was celebrated on the school premises. The hoisting of the National Flag was followed by a cultural program by the students of BGKV and BIMS. This included ‘BhashaSangam’, a CBSE initiative on the diversity of Indian languages.

On 19th August 2023, Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir, received several awards in the Telegraph School Award for Excellence 2023, organised by The Telegraph Education Foundation. Honour Certificate for Excellence in Maintenance and Eco-friendly Initiatives, Merit Certificate for Excellence in Academics (CBSE), and Honour Certificate for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities are the awards won by the school. Some of the students were awarded individually under different categories. It was indeed a moment of pride and honour for all at BGKV.
On 16th August 2023 the students of BGKV participated in Plurilogues, a debate competition which is an event of the fest Shabd organised by Mahadevi Birla World Academy. BGKV secured the first position. The participants were Shounak Maji of Class X and Oishani Das of Class XI. Oishani won the best speaker award in the turncoat round and Shounak won the best speaker (opposition) award.
On 9th August 2023 Vivas Charitable Trust organized a mass chanting event for the students of class v to enlighten the glory of Sanatan dharma through Shri Vishnu Sahasranam to inculcate bhakti and moral values in children.
On 4th August 2023, Souradityo Narayan Patranabis- Class XI and Asmita Ghosh- Class XII) won the best team prize and Souradityo won the Best Speaker (For) Award in the prestigious Draupadi Devi Khaitan Memorial Inter School Debate Competition organized by BDM International school.
Times Edu Shine Award Ceremony was organized by the Times of India group on 25th July 2023 at Dhono Dhanya Auditorium to felicitate the top three students of classes 10 and 12 for their exemplary performance in the board exams 2023.
The 9-9-9 Challenge: The students of class VI participated in the 9-9-9 Challenge conducted from 11th July 2023 to 21st July 2023. It is an initiative of the Integrated Holistic Healthcare-Mind, Body, Environment, an official working group of C20 or Civil Society 20. This challenge seeks to demonstrate the vital impacts of Yoga and meditation in our lives. The Challenge comprises 9 rounds of Surya Namaskar, 9 minutes of Meditation, and 9 days of committed practice of these two activities. The overall coordination of the program is done by AYUDH, the International Youth Movement of Mata Amritanandamayi Math.
11th & 12th March 2023: Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) & (UEM) Kolkata organised ‘Robotics and Science model Exhibition’ from 11th to 12th March 2023
14th & 16th January 2023:BGKV organised a Measles Rubella Vaccination (MRV) Programme in association with the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation in the school premises for the students in the age group of less than 15 years.More than 2000 students of primary and secondary section were vaccinated maintaining the necessary hygiene protocols.
10th January 2023: Class XI Commerce students participated in the Prestigious G-20 Summit-2023 on 10th January, 2023 in the Biswa Bangla Convention Center, New Town, Kolkata.
25th – 26th November 2022 – Our school hosted the second edition of EDUNXT a two day educational fest in which 16 reputed schools of Kolkata participated. The first day was EDUBIZ for Commerce and Humanities stream. The second day was EDUQUEST for the Science stream students.
9th-14th November, 2022: 7 schools from all over Kolkata participated in an invitational Girls’ Football Tournament “SOCCER-22” from 10th-14th November, 2022 organised by BGKV on the school ground. The tournament was sponsored by the German Football Academy.
31st October 2022 – 6th November 2022: Anandi Garg won a gold medal in karate (form) and Bronze medal in kickboxing in the ISKA World Martial Arts Championships 2022 at Antalya/ Kemer, Turkey.
31st October – 1st November 2022: Students of Class XI participated in Intra MUN organised in the school and discussed on the Kashmir issue.
12th September 2022: Students focused on cleanliness and hand sanitisation during Swachhata Pakhwada, a CBSE initiative
23rd August 2022: SPICMACAY conducted an orientation session for the students of Class IX. The programme included an introduction to SPICMACAY and their works followed by a lecture-demonstration session by Vidushi Mandira Lahiri.
22nd August – 30th August 2022:An inter-school football tournament Goalzz 2022 was organised and hosted by BGKV. 14 teams from reputed schools of Kolkata participated.
5th August 2022: In a Business Fest‘NIRMAAN’ hosted by Mahadevi Birla World Academy, students of class XI bagged the winner’s trophy in BIZTECH (Business Model using hardware and software)
